What’s important to remember with all breast surgery aftercare at Reflect Clinic is that every woman’s body is unique.
With this being said, it would be wrong for us to give a guarantee on recovery times. However, on average, your body and wounds should be well on the way to fully healed in 8-10 weeks.
In this latest Reflect Clinic blog, we’ll be discussing our breast surgery aftercare and how our expert clinical team take care of you throughout the recovery process.
What is ‘normal’ during my recovery?
Like all surgery, you should expect to be sore for several weeks as your body heals. What’s important to remember is that this is entirely normal and not something to be concerned about.
When it comes to breast surgery, it is often the case that one breast heals before the other, causing asymmetry and swelling.
Again it’s important to remember that this is a completely normal response from your body. Over time, your new breasts will have the desired shape you wanted before surgery; as the saying goes, time is a healer, so give yourself precisely that!
You can aid your recovery by using supportive pillows, keeping mobile around your home and the golden rule of rest and recovery – hydration, hydration, hydration! You should aim to drink a minimum of 1L of water a day to accelerate the healing process.
Also, please avoid housework and any other unnecessary lifting;. It’s truly a time to put your feet up, so sit back and relax and be waited on by family for a change!
What’s included in my aftercare pack from Reflect Clinic?
At Reflect Clinic, we don’t just send you on your merry way, and that’s that!
Mr Lambe and Clinic Manager Jayne have come up with the perfect aftercare package to get you on the road to recovery sooner rather than later; the pack includes:
- Wound-specific cream;
- Moisturiser for recovery,
- Scar tissue cream
- Hand sanitiser
Alongside this, follow-up appointments to check up on the wound healing process are made at regular intervals during your recovery.
Should you become concerned, Jayne is available by phone. You’ll be provided with a number to call that has a direct link to Mr Gerard Lambe.
