Well, International Women’s Day on Tuesday, 8th March 2022 has been and gone and tbh it’s flown by as already a week ago!
It was so good to catch up with so many fabulous entrepreneurial women who have been working hard all year in their own businesses and took time out to celebrate – we even toasted our successes and celebrated with some pink prosecco! It was pure heaven! 😉
She Believed She Could So She Did!
Firstly we went to the Menagerie Restaurant and Bar which was hosting a fabulous celebration of women and the journeys that they have been through to become the successes they are today. I did read about women who still beat themselves up by focussing on where they have “failed” in their lives and the advice was that there is no success without failure on the way, let it go!!
The day started off well as I met up with my good friend Liana at Northern Lashes which is a brand new product to market which is vegan and eco friendly as it does not use plastic in it’s manufacture or packaging. Liana is modelling them here.
We were also lucky enough to bump into the daring Dianne Bourne at the Manchester Evening News and her photographer who took some photos and we were even published in their online article. You can read the full story here.
Julie Perry events organised the show and our compere for the day was TV and radio presenter Judie McCourt who kept the running order smooth and asked some probing questions of our ladies!
We took the time to speak to our friends Tanya Bardo (with her lovely daughter) who is now concentrating on her online boutique of positivity. My friend Liana is a big fan so was delighted to meet her and share her lashes!
We also met up with Jenny Powell who was sharing the dinner with her friend Claire and her lovely Mum! She is presenting Greatest Hits Radio at the moment and regularly comperes and presents at many events across Cheshire, Manchester and London, Her show is aired at the weekend and well worth a listen!!
Nadine Merabi also shared her story of the dream that she had to become a fashion designer even though she didn’t even know how to sew and bought her first sewing machine off Ebay. What she did have though is a dream and she never ever thought that stars such as Amanda Holden would be wearing her signature gowns. She is known for her flamboyant style, using lots of sequins and ostrich feathers! Some lucky lady even won some of her black silky pyjamas on the evening complete with ostrich feathers!
Unbeknown to us, Colleen Rooney was also there!
Finally, Rebecca Ferguson came on to speak about her journey as a singer and how she is changing perceptions and the law in the music industry so that women are valued and respected in the industry, a subject she is very passionate about! She was so gracious on the evening as while we were chatting her dinner arrived, her colleague insisted we have a photo and she told us not to worry as her steak dinner was getting cold! It’s great to report that she really is as sweet in real life as she is on the TV. 😉
Emmeline’s Pantry
The event was aptly supported Emmeline’s Pantry – the foodbank with a difference which is a charity run by women for women in need, ensuring they are provided with the best possible support. Emmeline’s Pantry helps women and their families access the things they need most, including food, toiletries, baby equipment and clothes. They are based in Manchester and are a registered charity (number 1169796). We are extemely happy to support this charity and wish them lots of success!
Finally, we just couldn’t go without mentioning the honestly absolutely gorgeous 3 course dinner we had on the day! We went vegetarian and shared a lovely mixed starter of prawns and vegetables, our main course was Truffle Ravioli and I can honestly say it tasted like nectar and I will definitely go back again, so so good, The final course was a mixed selection of brownies, toasted marshmallows, caramel and candy floss. We washed it down with Menagerie’s own branded pink fizz which was divine. I can’t wait to go again!
All too soon, after dinner and a quick chat, the event came to a close and we all went home from Manchester City Centre to pick up our children, inspired and rejuvenated by these inspirational females for the busy year ahead! We hope to see them all again very soon!!
