This Morning

We regularly watch This Morning on ITV to catch up with the latest news and trends from fashion to celebrity updates and to hear personal stories unfold from brave interviewees, so Mr Lambe was delighted to be invited onto the show to talk about a subject he has been talking about for a while.

Fully trained and accredited plastic surgeons are trained over many, many years and the best plastic surgeons are accredited with membership bodies such as the BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) and BAPRAS (The British Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons).

Trends brought about by influencers such as Kim Kardashian and Instagrammers who have increased the size of their buttocks has meant that more women have gone abroad than ever, for so called cosmetic surgery tourism, to have cheaper but riskier surgery abroad.

Regulations in Cosmetic Surgery

Unfortunately regulation is not as good as it should be when travelling abroad and a recent case of a mother who went abroad to Turkey for a brazilian butt lift resulted in her dying on the operating table as she had a blood clot arising from sucking out fat from one area in her body which was then injected into the deep veins in her buttocks. The more fat that is injected into the bottom, the deeper it needs to be injected. For Leah, the “harvested”  fat then travelled in her veins, around her body and resulted in her having 3 heart attacks on the operating table and dying. Leah Cambridge, from Leeds in West Yorkshire was a mother of three and our hearts go out to her partner and family.

“My Brazilian Bum Lift Almost Killed Me”

On 30 August 2018, Jane Park (above) also shared her experience with Ruth Langsford and Earmonn Holmes. She travelled abroad to have cosmetic surgery where she ended up fighting for her life!

Her Brazilian bum lift almost killed her too after she had travelled abroad to Turkey for her operation. She did some research beforehand and asked friends who had had the surgery how they had got on and decided to go ahead with the cheaper option cosmetic surgery. This is a growing trend, called cosmetic surgery tourism.

She wanted to lose weight in certain places and move it to her bottom really appealed to her. She researched the celebrities that had had it done on Instagram and said “they were OK”. Basically, BBL surgery is a two-step process where the patient has liposuction (or removal of fat) from selected areas. The harvested fat is then washed and treated before being re-injected back into your own body into specific areas that you would like to increase the size of.

This young lady didn’t realise the risks she was taking when she had her buttocks injected with fat to enhance their shape and size.

In her experience after surgery, she said she felt very cold and sore and was swollen from head to toe, barely being able to open her eyes. She said “it made me sick looking back at the pictures”.  She thought that she was going to die and they said she had a bad reaction to the anaesthetic.

She originally thought the surgery was safer as it was injecting her own fat into her own body but she was in a lot of pain and had an infection that she didn’t know about. She was crying and in agony for days but when she approached the clinic, she was told that it was her choice to have the surgery, she had paid to have it done so she had to put up with the pain.  As you can see her aftercare wasn’t good at all.

She also had to lie down on her front for 5 days as she was unable to lie or sit on her bottom.  She then had to get a flight home in agony to be later treated at a hospital in the United Kingdom.

Ruth asked Jane if it was worth all the pain and the worry to have her new rounded bottom. Jane’s clear reply was

If I’d have known that this would happen, I would NEVER have done it.

BAAPS’ Advice

BAAPs have issued a health warning about the “high death rate” associated with this procedure stating it has the Highest Death Rate of all Cosmetic Surgeries. The death rate is 1:3000 for brazilian bum lift surgery which is “far and away the most risky cosmetic surgery operation”.

Cosmetic Surgery Tourism

If you are considering having any cosmetic surgery, either a breast enlargement, upper eyelift, mid-facelift or tummy tuck, you should always ensure that you are resting near to your cosmetic surgeon post-surgery, so that they are close at hand should anything go wrong.

Fully research, speak to someone about their cosmetic surgery experience for this or any other cosmetic surgery procedure. You need to know about the clinic and the actual surgeon who would be performing the operation.  All surgeons are not the same and there are different/no regulations in some countries to protect your safety.

However, your health is of paramount importance and is not worth the risk of going abroad to save a few hundred pounds.

Our advice is please DO NOT HAVE THIS SURGERY.

Mr Lambe is passionate about safe surgery for his patients and indeed for anyone considering having cosmetic treatment here and most especially abroad hehas the following advice:-

  • Do your research on the clinic you wish to visit, what does it say about safety, does it pressure you, does it focus on your cash, or your customer care? Is the saving on the cost of an eyelift or price of a labiaplasty worth the risk?
  • If you have any doubts whatsoever, then delay your surgery. Cosmetic surgery such as liposuction or breast enlargement surgery is a big decision for anyone. You need to weigh up the risks and the potential gains of taking this risk.
  • If you have any further questions, ask the clinic directly and book in for a second time to see your surgeon. Mr Lambe often does second appointments with his patients especially those who wish to have breast enlargements so that they can be sure that they are having the right sized breast implants for them.
  • Pressure from the clinic or your surgeon is a huge red flag – any reputable surgeon will ensure you have the time to decide for yourself.

This danger was followed up a week later as another lady was also interviewed on 5 Sept 2018.  Swedish Glamour Model Natasha Crown appeared on This Morning after her experience of having the procedure too. Click. here to see more.

She can’t run and can’t sleep on her back in her bid to have the world’s biggest bottom. She gorges on chocolate to make the fat so that it can be harvested and put into her bottom. She has had 4 BBL surgeries.

The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons instigated an investigation into brazilian butt lifts and reported that “Brazilian Buttock Lift” has the highest death rate, believed to be as high as one in every 3,000 operations, of all cosmetic surgery procedures.

The report was issued in October advised “Surgeons should refrain from performing this treatment until more data can be obtained due to the “risk of injecting fat into large veins that can travel to the heart or brain and cause severe illness and death”.

Facts about Brazilian Buttock Lifts

Please remember the fate of beautiful Leah Cambridge after going abroad to have cosmetic surgery.

It is by far and away the riskiest cosmetic surgery procedures. Our advice is not to have this cosmetic surgery!
