Breast Cancer Charity
This breast cancer charity is now in it’s third year and is an annual event now in Cheshire.
It is the brainchild of Sarah E Pickles from Cheshire, who herself was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. She then went on to have chemotherapy, a double mastectomy and reconstruction following her diagnosis in 2014. But later had another scare when shadows were found on her spine.
Now Sarah organises and hosts the Butterfly Breast Cancer Awards to celebrate women affected by the disease and those who have helped them along their journey.
She said: “What stood out for me was the way women who have experienced breast cancer can flourish, emerge with a renewed sense of purpose and achievement, by harnessing the opportunity to transcend from their old form and create a new beginning, much like butterflies.
There are many others making a difference to someone who has breast cancer and their long road to wellbeing. From nurses, doctors and support staff, to neighbours, friends and family, there is often an army of people lifting them up through little acts of kindness.”
After experiencing this invaluable support on her own journey, she decided she wanted to celebrate this often unseen and invaluable support system which will involve many procedures including breast surgery”.

Cheshire Supporters
Our leading pic is with Sarah Osborne from So Nutrition, who is a dietician who specialises in nutrition for patients with ADHD, autism, and mental health issues. I was lucky enough to be sat with a lovely group of women and one lucky man, Susie’s husband Phil!
The table guests at Cheshire’s 5 * Carden Park Hotel & Spa included :-
Katy Parker Quinn – of Cheshire Paper Flowers, who makes handmade floral decorations for tables and displays in giant sizes (seen here in the photo background).
She says her “superpower is not only about the end product but also about the passion, dedication and creativity” she puts into making each individual flower. She is so happy that she can celebrate her gift, whilst earning a living from it! Instagram @CheshirePaperFlowers
Susie Sprigg – I first met Susie at the Women in Business North events which she hosted in Altrincham and across Cheshire. She is a serial entrepreneur who collaborates and celebrates women including running events such as “Show Your Light” showcasing women’s skills designed to empower them and become successful entrepreneurs themselves. You can follow her on instagram @

Butterfly Community Award
We were lucky enough to share a table with a winner, this time it was Simone Grove who won for her work in the community as a Breast Cancer nurse.
Here she is returning from collecting her surprise award certificate, as well as an etched glass plaque and a boxed butterfly, which is a key element of the awards, with the symbolism that she can release the butterfly in the wild to soar away to a new life, which is a story of hope and a wish for all those women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, that they can still go on to live a full life after their diagnosis and sometimes gruelling treatment.
She won the award because of her important and relentless work in supporting and advocating for those patients who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and provides signposting, practical, medical and emotional support to them as they go along their breast cancer journey.
Well done from us all at Reflect Clinic too Simone!

Charity Supporters
Supporters and Ambassadors on the evening were many and I managed to get a quick pic of Emma Guy and Estelle Maher who were kindly collecting the raffle tickets for the evening in a bid to raise as much funds as possible for the charity.
Estelle Maher is MD of TAUK publications which is an agency that supports authors on their journey to producing their own published book. She has a team of experts to support you from editing to listing your book on Amazon!
If you’re interested in publishing your own book, you can find out more here.
The photo also features Emma Guy, Chief Commercial Officer at Aqueous Digital, who won Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year 2022, for her ongoing work with the business, at the Creme de la Creme awards. founded by Joanna Scott-Aspray.
Cheshire Life Presenter
The event was hosted by Joanne Goodwin, Editor of Cheshire Life Magazine and Ambassador for the Butterfly Breast Cancer charity.
Joanne presented the awards this year and stayed in full control despite the inevitable technical hitch (a pre-prepared video refused to play!)
She always looks effortlessly elegant and has her own inimitable style. I couldn’t resist feeling the luxurious fabric of her velvet dress.
She convinced me that her science backed health coaching was necessary for middle aged and menopausal women who had unique nutritional needs and noted they often came to see her as they lack energy and motivation, are fed up with their body, their clothes, ageing and are often overwhelmed by the changes they are experiencing through their menopause journey.
I know exactly what you mean Catherine, as am well and truly on the menopause journey – thanks for all your patience Gerard 😉

Women Supporting Women
I am sure you can agree that all these women received the support and confidence to continue on their journey by this marvellous community. Here’s an example of just one of the awards and the stiff competition.
It’s so refreshing to be seen by your community when most of your work is behind the scenes but is very much needed. Well done Sarah!
Bottom Row:
Top Right is networking Queen of Connecting Cheshire Sue France. She says she’s retired but she never stops! lolI couldn’t resist the shot with a butterfly at our table.See if you can spot yourself in the photographs below!
