Lucy’s Experience at Reflect Clinic

Lucy’s Liposuction Q and A

1 Why did you have liposuction?

In September 2019, when I was on holiday, I didn’t feel totally happy about myself and wanted to feel more confident, so thought liposuction could be the solution.. I knew of Mr Lambe when I worked in the healthcare industry and I knew he was one of top players in cosmetic surgery in the North West. After I began to do my research, I thought that it was time to enquire with somebody and book a consultation or things wouldn’t change. Also, Mr Lambe’s secretary, Jayne invited me for a second consultation after my first meeting, so I felt really confident with their support, in finding the cosmetic surgeon for me.

2 What research did you do before choosing Reflect Clinic?

I knew that Mr Lambe was one of best cosmetic surgeons in the North West. I had been doing some research and found Reflect Clinic’s website and was impressed by the reviews and in particular the celebrity reviews. He managed my expectations completely, told me what type of results I was going to get and what I could expect from the surgery. I decided to do a bit of research, after my holidays, found the website and saw the great reviews and celebrity reviews and read this Surgeon’s reputation was really good so gave Jayne a ring.

3 What was the Cost of your Liposuction?

Please see our cosmetic surgery cost guide. See here.

4 How was your cosmetic surgery experience?

The hospital at Spire Manchester was great, I was seen to much more quickly than I expected and stayed in overnight and was so reassured when my Surgeon,  Mr Lambe came to see me the next day and he seemed really happy with the results.

5 How was your liposuction recovery?

My main concern was wearing the compression garment but after spending about one hour with Mr Lambe discussing the liposuction surgery I felt reassured about the recovery process. I expected it to be more drawn out and painful than it was. I was only in one night and got great support from Spire Manchester and Mr Lambe.

6 How was your aftercare experience?

I also, found the procedure a lot less painful than I expected and felt comfortable during all of my recovery.

7 What did you think of the results of your liposuction surgery?

I feel great and really confident about my body, much more so than before the surgery.

8 How has surgery changed your life?

Confidence is a big thing and allows me to feel much more like myself. I can’t wait to next go on holiday and show off my results and body where usually I’d be a little self-conscious about my stomach. I am more active and happier with my body which is allowing me to explore new things and look forward to my next holidays!

Liposuction is a way of sculpting the body by sucking away fat in a carefully controlled manner.

Areas that you would like to reduce are targetted so that those key areas appear flatter.

Liposuction is typically given to the sides of the tummy (which helps to give an hourglass figure), upper thighs and inner thighs, but any area that is giving you cause for concern really.

You will come back from theatre wearing a compression garment and this is a very important part of the post op care so that you get the best result. The garment helps to stop swelling and fluid collections and ensures that the skin that was lifted up during the procedure sticks down smoothly.

You will have tiny wounds that are closed with dissolving stitches..

Mr Lambe will see you 2 weeks after the operation to check that your wounds are healing nicely.

You can develop small collections of fluid under the skin called seromas. This can be avoided by using your post op garment.

You may have lumpy or uneven areas which again can be minimised by wearing your post op garment for a minimum of 4 weeks and best after 6 weeks. You can develop infections or poor scarring but this will be monitored post operatively.

You will need a private consultation to discuss your personal requirements as everyone is different.

You are overweight, with a BMI of over 32, smoke or vape, are in bad health and are taking anti-coagulant medication or are diabetic.

Depending on the size of the area, you may be able to have the procedure awake (with Local Anaesthetic) or asleep (under General Anaesthetic). First Mr Lambe will see you on the morning of surgery and mark out the area(s) to be treated. This is important and acts as a map. Next a special cocktail of fluid containing anaesthetic and adrenaline to control pain and bleeding is injected into the area. Very small incisions are used and these are not placed symmetrically as this is more noticeable than marks that are offset.

The best results are obtained from wearing the garment for 6 weeks but a minimum of 4 weeks is recommended.

The best results from Liposuction are in areas where you have tight skin and the skin therefore snaps back when the fat is emptied out.

Good areas are the outer thighs and saddlebag area.

If you have loose hanging skin in the area to be treated then Mr Lambe will assess you at your consultation.

All liposuction relies on very similar principles of removing the fat by suction but some companies have added ways of trying to break up the fat into smaller portions to make it easier to target key areas by using either vibration, heat or ultrasound. These make the Surgeon’s job a little easier but they risk causing burns to the skin and for this reason I do not use them as I have always been able to get good results with conventional and safe liposuction..
