International Women’s Day at Womanifest

IWD Event 2025

Wednesday, 12th March was a glorious sunny day for a drive to the Chester Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa this week, to attend the Womanifest event for International Women’s Day.

Womanifest was founded by Women’s Coach, Jodie Salt, who set up the festival for women 5 years ago. It’s an annual event and has been held at one of two sites either in Cherry Orchard Farm in Oakmere, Cheshire or Lady Heyes farm in Frodsham, Cheshire.  Both wonderful venues around Cheshire.

She is also a leadership coach and aims to help C suite & senior women smash the glass ceiling, develop both their credibility & influence and avoid burnout. She is an executive coach, leader and holds retreats in the UK and exotic locations abroad. (I had to look this up, but C-suite means a job title starting with Chief such as Chief Operating Officer!)

She is a force to behold and here she is on the left receiving a beautiful bouquet of spring flowers in recognition of her vision and hands-on organisation of previous events, presented by Sara Hughes, one of the team of 4, who have taken over the running of the event, overseen by Lisa Williams, Vision Board Queen.

Endometriosis

As you know, here at Reflect Clinic, we like to support women’s charities and we heard about a new women’s charity as soon as we stepped into the venue. This year’s charity partner is Endo Buddies CIC.

The charity was set up after Founder Katy Phillips suffered from endometriosis and experienced a lot of pain over the years and her research found that it takes the average endometriosis sufferer,  8 years & 10 months to get a diagnosis for this debilitating condition.

On her own journey, she was even told that the pain was “in her mind” and was offered anti-depressants, when in reality she was suffering from a very real and very painful condition.

She also realised that there was no support, leaflets, posters and very little knowledge about the condition even by medical professionals, so she set up her own charity to support the wellbeing of women suffering with endometriosis.

The condition affects around 1.5 million women in the UK, causing chronic pain and fatigue due to tissue similar to the womb lining, growing elsewhere in the body. The cells respond to the menstrual cycle, building up and then breaking down and bleeding, but the blood has no way to escape.

According to the NHS UK,  “there is no lasting treatment for endometriosis, but doctors can offer treatments that help you manage it. Finding the right treatment depends on many different factors, including your age and symptoms”.

This charity was set up to support those women along their journey, as there is no cure at the present time, so the journey to being diagnosed to getting treatment can often be an emotionally, mentally and physically draining journey for women.

* Stop Press *

The government announced this week that a daily pill is available that could reduce the pain and side effects of endometriosis.

Please read more about it here. If you are suffering, you should contact your GP to discuss your treatment options.

Action to Accelerate

The main theme for this year for IWD was Accelerate to Action and there was a lot of action and role modelling going on!

I managed to take lots of notes (as a writer, I always  write down the research facts, as well as names and topics).

I also write down personal tips to myself including having a positive mindset.

This year I learnt about the power of a “Power Pose” which got us up from our seats. It involves standing up with legs at a comfortable distance apart, head up and hands on waist. Wow it was powerful to feel confident and grounded. There’s a lot to thank Wonder Woman for!

Speakers

A host of entrepreneurial women speakers shared their very personal stories and gave us empowering tips, including:-

Q&A Panel

There was also a group of entrepreneurial panellists who stood up to answer a host of questions from the room about their own personal journeys and what tips they had found useful in life.

And finally

The day was jam-packed with inspirational advice, ideas and powerful women who were keen to connect and collaborate, so watch this space!

Sincere apologies if I have left anyone out, but please see my reel @iamjoannalambe to see the wonderful women speaking and around the tables.

Here’s a picture with Emma Louise Dyson who told me she was opening up a venue in Chester to share her wild and untamed way with even more women. Good luck Emma!

And a very happy International Women’s Day 2025 to you!
