Living in Manchester
Well, where should I begin?
After securing a job at The Christie Hospital in Didsbury, we moved up the M56 to South Manchester nearly 10 years ago. At the time our family consisted of one 3 year old daughter and another baby on the way. We are now firmly ensconced in our lovely home and our eldest is now in high school. We’ve met many inspiring and empowered ladies and haven’t looked back!

1 Proximity to Manchester Airport
Having had a baby when we first moved we didn’t get a chance to travel as much as we used to but now they are older, we are making up for lost time!
Mr Lambe attended a Masterclass on Facelifts at Campus Champs Elysees so called as it is near the famous Champs Elysees in Paris, so we took the opportunity to look around the city and take it the culture.
Having tried the delights of Cafe Rouge in the UK, we thought we would try moules marniere and frites in France for real and it did not disappoint! We chose the house wine and it was truly one of the best wines I have ever tasted and perfectly complimented the sea food and the steak!
We were so lucky that our trip coincided with Paris Fashion Week and we bumped into many gorgeous (and very tall ladies) strutting their stuff about town.
The world literally is on your doorstep these days (or just a 10 minute cab ride!!)
2. Hotels

If you’re visiting from another city or country, there are many examples of hotels such as The Midland Hotel in central Manchester. It’s an iconic 4 star hotel in St Peters Street Manchester city centre offering an award-winning spa. It’s a luxury hotel in the heart of the city so perfect for a base for you to sample all that Manchester has to offer.
3. Fantastic Bars and Restaurants
There’s always a new bar or restaurant having a launch party which helps to keep the city vibrant.
We can’t wait to try The Menagerie which is owned by Seema (Forever Unique) and Stacey Forsey (Artist) and characters from The Real Housewives of Cheshire which showcases many luxurious, trendy and hot new places to visit in the local area.
4. Museums and Galleries
The IWM (International War Museum) hosts a string of child friendly and interactive events throughout the year including huge video screens where people give interviews on their experience in war time along with a vast array of war time memorabilia and you can even buy ration books in the gift shop by the cafe.
The world famous MOSI (Museum of Science and Industry) has recently taken down it’s skeleton of a huge dinosaur and continues to update it’s knowledge and exhibitions. I particularly like the ant trail where you can see ants carrying leaves many times bigger than them towards their nest through glass partitions!
5. Great Infrastructure
The circular M60 motorway connects all of Manchester from the North to the South and Back again. It also has the M56 motorway which goes up towards the Wirral and it’s host of beaches and the M62 towards Warrington which is expecting a £20m boost to it’s town centre as well as the recently pedestrianised Liverpool 1 development which boasts big name brands like Mulberry and even Jamie Oliver’s restaurant.
6. Shopping

Selfridges is the flagship of the shopping Mecca, The Trafford Centre, with a beautiful selection of to die for shoes and bags, such as Sophia Webster’s unique winged stilettos and Vivienne Westwood’s jewellery, bag and clothes collection.
There is a huge food court where you can pick from a curry or a MacDonalds, or sip champagne at the champagne bar, after all shopping is thirsty work!
7. Glamorous & Beautiful People
You may have heard in the Press recently that Liverpool and Manchester are the top two cities in the UK for Botox and Filler searches via the internet. This ties in with us being trend setters in fashion, glamour and beauty in the North and of course women in these areas like to look good now and to prevent (ageing) and preserve their good looks in the future!

8. Media City
Huge investment in Media City has meant that we now have a media hub along the canal side at Salford Quays.
BBC North was the first to move “up North” in 2011 and production programming includes: Childrens, Weather and Sport
with it’s TV, Radio and online broadcasting, ITV and Salford University are on the site.
Manchester is now considered a flagship facility for the UK’s biggest commercial programme provider, ITV which is based in the Orange Tower and hosts teams from CITV, Granada Reports, factual shows, entertainment, various dramas including the UK’s longest running soap, Coronation Street which has a new set near The IWM (International War Museum).
Salford University offers a venue for drama courses for younger children as well as teaching for it’s own media related and vocational degrees with great links to the BBC and ITV as well as independent production companies.
9.Best Cosmetic Surgery
Mr Lambe was called upon recently to comment as part of his role as Baaps Representative in the North where he was questioned about the reported dip in cosmetic surgery procedures in favour of fillers and botox in the current economic climate.
Recent reports from Baaps have confirmed that there is now a rise in Cosmetic Surgery following redos from work that has been carried out by unqualified and unregulated surgeons. This is certainly an area that Mr Lambe has noticed and has carried out a number of implant exchanges over the past few years which thankfully tend to be fairly straightforward.

So you can see growth, vibrancy, media, glamour and business all combine towards a buzzing atmosphere and exciting times. Manchester really is “the place to be!”
