Our Patient Case Study
1 Why did you have upper eyelift surgery?
eg How did you feel about your eyes before your surgery and did this affect your confidence?
I looked into the procedure five years ago. It’s always been at the back of my mind. The right eye droop was always the most obvious – to me. It would make me feel down but I managed to reframe it. I turned 50 last year and decided to take action. My family were supportive of me having the procedure but didn’t feel it was necessary – they said they love me just the way I am, but I decided to go ahead.
2 What research did you do before booking?
I have been a friend of Mr & Mrs Lambe (Ged and Jo) for over 25 years and had discussed it 5 years ago. January this year we met up and I opened the discussion. Ged is a lovely person and I have followed his work on social media since the start of Reflect Clinic. It was after a lengthy discussion with both Ged and Jo that I made the decision to go ahead with the procedure.
3 How did you feel after booking your consultation with Jayne?
Relief and excitement
4 What questions did you have at your eyelift consultation?
How long would the recovery be? How long would it take? Would it be noticeable?
5 How did you feel after you consulted with Mr Lambe?
Confident and happy to be in his capable/steady hands.
6 Any tips for anyone thinking of having an upper eyelift?
Don’t underestimate the power of rest. It is SO important. Elevate your head and use Vaseline to help with the itchy feeling you may get. Jayne checks in with you, so if you do have any questions or concerns, she is always on hand.
7 How was your recovery after your eyelift? What did you expect and how was it different?
Good but I’m quite impatient. It is definitely better. I am in Week 6 of recovery. I have been using the silicone gel Kelo-Cote for about 2 weeks, twice a day as recommended. The scarring is quite red at times but I’m sure that will calm down. I’m still not using mascara and don’t think I shall for a while. Just to reduce any aggravation it may cause. I’m not a big make up girl. I prefer the more natural look. A bit of blush on the cheeks, eye brow shape and lippy and I’m good to go.
9 What do you think of your results?
So far good, but scarring is still quite red, especially on the outer side of both eyes. I’m an outdoors girl so conscious with the better weather coming I will need to be careful and be disciplined in using sunscreen daily and wearing shades.
Thank you for your support throughout, it’s been appreciated. Can’t wait for next month for our jolly holiday!
Update
After 8 weeks, the slightly raised scar and redness reduced a lot and by 12 weeks the raised area had flattened and the redness had disappeared. I don’t wear a lot of makeup so didn’t cover it up. I did massage each night before bed over the area as recommended to help speed up recovery, I also drank lots of water and ate healthily. I wore my sunglasses in the spring so that the scarring would be protected from the sun. I am so glad I had it done as my eyes look a lot more “open”. A few friends and acquaintances have said that I look good, but they haven’t said what is different exactly and I haven’t said what I’ve had done 😉
